Can weight loss medication be delivered to your home?
Yes. GLP-1 weight loss medicines, including Wegovy and Mounjaro, can be delivered straight to your home by a GPhC-registered pharmacy that maintains the cold chain. Iris Health offers this across the UK and accepts both NHS and private prescriptions.
Home delivery needs a valid prescription from a registered prescriber. Iris Health is a dispensing pharmacy only — we don't issue prescriptions or carry out clinical assessments. Once you have a prescription from your GP, an NHS specialist, or a private weight loss clinic, we take care of collection, dispensing and delivery.
NHS prescriptions
We accept NHS prescriptions for Wegovy or Mounjaro issued through specialist weight management services or shared-care GP arrangements, liaising with the NHS prescriber so the paperwork is in order before we dispense.
Private prescriptions
We also accept private prescriptions from online weight loss clinics and specialist prescribers. Send the prescription to us and our pharmacist team handles the rest, contacting your prescriber directly if any clinical query comes up.
We don't prescribe. Iris Health is a dispensing pharmacy, not a prescribing service. If you don't yet have a prescription, speak to a registered prescriber or weight loss clinic first — we're happy to point you toward reputable options.
How weight loss prescription delivery works

Prescription received. Sent electronically, by post, or from your clinic. We confirm receipt and log it on our clinical system straight away.

Prescription verification. We check prescriber registration, patient details, medication, strength, dose and quantity, and query anything we can't verify before proceeding.
- Pharmacist clinical review. A registered pharmacist reviews dose, contraindications and clinical appropriateness, contacting the prescriber to resolve any query — we don't dispense where clinical uncertainty remains.
Dispensed and packaged. The medication is dispensed with a second accuracy check, then packed in validated cold-chain packaging holding 2–8°C, in discreet, tamper-evident outer packaging.
Dispatch and live tracking. You get a dispatch notification and a live tracking link by SMS and email.
Delivery and confirmation. A signature is required on receipt — injectables are never left unattended — and a confirmation is sent to you and, where relevant, your clinic.

GLP-1 receptor agonists are injectable, prescription-only medicines that mimic glucagon-like peptide-1, a gut hormone that signals fullness to the brain, slows stomach emptying and reduces appetite. First developed for type 2 diabetes, several are now licensed in the UK for obesity and long-term weight management.
Semaglutide (Wegovy)
Wegovy is licensed in the UK for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more alongside a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol or type 2 diabetes. Ozempic contains the same molecule but is licensed for type 2 diabetes, and is sometimes prescribed off-label for weight loss.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro)
Mounjaro is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist licensed in the UK for both weight management and type 2 diabetes. Trial data suggests it may produce greater average weight loss than semaglutide for some people, though individual responses vary.
Prescription-only medicines
Every GLP-1 weight loss medicine is a prescription-only medicine (POM) in the UK and can't legally be bought without a valid prescription. Treat any service offering these without one with caution — it's illegal and potentially dangerous.

Both Wegovy and Mounjaro must stay in this range in transit — exposure above 30°C or below 0°C can permanently degrade the active ingredient, and a damaged pen can still look completely normal. Private patients
Most Wegovy and Mounjaro prescriptions in the UK currently come through private clinics and online prescribers. Iris Health accepts private prescriptions from any registered UK prescriber. If your clinic doesn't already send prescriptions to us, ask them to do so directly.
